Tiger Re-enters Gangavaram Mandal

Forest Officials Urge Residents to Remain Alert

Gangavaram, Pen Power, May 29:
The Forest Department has intensified efforts to capture the tiger that has been creating fear among residents in Polavaram district. After roaming in the Rajavommangi forest region for nearly 20 days and reportedly preying on around 15 cattle, the tiger has once again entered Gangavaram mandal.

Residents, who had felt relieved due to the tiger’s absence from the area for the past few weeks, are now gripped by fear following its reappearance. In response, a team of senior Forest Department officials visited Pidathamamidi, Vemulova, Vaddicheruvu, Ramuludevapuram and other villages in Gangavaram mandal on Thursday night.

Speaking to the media, Forest Department Chief Conservator Dr. Jyothi and Polavaram DFO Shivakumar Gangul said that special measures are being taken to capture the tiger and that forest personnel are maintaining constant vigilance. They explained that capturing the animal has been challenging due to the dense forest terrain but expressed confidence that it would be trapped soon.

Special teams have been deployed for the operation, and awareness programmes are being conducted at the village level to prevent panic among residents. Officials also assured that compensation is being provided to owners of cattle killed in tiger attacks.

The Forest Department has advised villagers not to venture alone into forest areas during night hours and to avoid leaving livestock unattended. Field staff are touring villages and educating people on safety precautions.

Senior state officials, including the Deputy Chief Minister and Forest Minister, are closely monitoring the situation and issuing directions to ensure effective action. Officials Venkata Subba Reddy, Anusha, Range Officer Srinivas and other staff members accompanied the inspection team.
