Village Unites to Safeguard Tribal Rights; Extends Financial Support to the Movement
GUDEM KOTHA VEEDHI, Pen Power, July 11: In a remarkable display of unity and commitment towards safeguarding tribal rights, the residents of Duccharapalem village have voluntarily raised ₹1 lakh to support the protection of the historic 1/70 Land Transfer Regulation, which safeguards tribal lands in the Scheduled Areas.
Tribal elders, youth and villagers came together with the conviction that protecting the 1/70 Regulation is the collective responsibility of every tribal community member. The funds were mobilised through voluntary contributions from almost every household in the village.
Expressing concern over recent developments and discussions surrounding the 1/70 Regulation, the villagers resolved to extend their support to all democratic and legal efforts aimed at protecting the legislation, which prevents the alienation of tribal lands to non-tribals in Agency areas.
The villagers stated that the amount collected within a short span would be formally handed over to the representatives of the 1/70 Protection Committee in the presence of village elders.
Tribal leaders and representatives of various organisations appreciated the initiative taken by the people of Duccharapalem, describing it as an inspiring example for other villages across the Agency region. They said such collective efforts reflect the determination of tribal communities to safeguard their constitutional and legal rights.
Speaking on the occasion, the villagers asserted that the protection of the 1/70 Regulation is essential for the survival, dignity and land rights of tribal communities. They reaffirmed their commitment to support every peaceful and democratic movement aimed at preserving tribal rights in the future.
Village elder Sagina Ramaraju Padal, former Sarpanch Sagina Pushpakumari, PESA Committee Vice-President Sagina Bhimeshwar Padal, Lakshman Brothers, Krishna Padal, Brahmaji, Gopi, Somaraju, Gummala Rambabu, Ward Member Jogi Padal, along with a large number of villagers and youth, participated in the programme.
